WHEAT, the Rhode Island band have since released 3 albums & developed a cult following, they are now back for their highly anticipated return.
When Wheat released their sophmore album ‘Hope & Adams’ the follow up to their mysterious, hazy, low key debut ‘Medeiros’ it yielded the coveted NME Single Of The Week award for “Death Car”, as well as a bumper crop of superlatives from the press on both sides of the Atlantic – saw the band shift up a gear, employing renowned producer DAVE FRIDMANN (MERCURY REV) to develop their ideas whilst remaining true to their original intentions.
The response to which was unanimous: a truly great American indie rock band had arrived, and in single “Don’t I Hold You” they had one of the most simple but heartbreaking love songs of the year.
Wheat then moved on to a Major label for their 3rd offering ‘Per Second, Per Second, Per Second... Every Second’ along with high profile TV appearances and 30K sales in the USA alone, but under that management also came misery, illness, disillusionment & much more.
Wheat’s fourth full-length album, is nothing short splendid.
From the celestial shimmer of “Closeness”, which opens the new album, to the pastoral instrumental poem, “Courting Ed Templeton”, which closes it, ‘Everyday I Said A Prayer..’ marks a splendid return to the incandescent form that yielded the delicious ‘Medeiros’ and the indie-pop gem ‘Hope & Adams’
