THE SCIENTISTS

Sedition
All Tomorrows Partie
INDIE

The return of one of Australia’s – and the world’s most important underground bands of the 80s.

Throughout most of the 80s Perth band THE SCIENTISTS spewed forth a sound that was swampy, primal and modern-urban all at once. Their name has been dropped by NIRVANA, THE WHITE STRIPES , THE VON BONDIES and many more as a key influence of how they could re-imagine rock n’ roll. And along with THE BIRTHDAY PARTY, invented the inner city look of that era.

The original line up of KIM SALMON, TONY THEWLIS, BORIS SUJDOVIC and LEANNE COWIE (who filled in for BRETT RIXON who passed away in 1993) were asked by massive fans MUDHONEY to support them at their gig at London’s Shepherd’s Bush Empire on May 11th 2006. This CD is that show, and this album plays more of a career ‘best of’ than just a live album. This is rock that sounds as vital now as it did 23 years ago.

Incredible deluxe packaging with a booklet in faux moleskin with detailed liner notes and raves from the names below. JON SPENCER “The Scientists turned my head around and made a man out of me! They grew hair on my palms and made my socks stink!” WARREN ELLIS, THE DIRTY THREE “They wrote fantastic singles and looked like they just crawled out of the ooze. What more could you ask for?” THURSTON MOORE“The Scientist proved to me that rock n roll could be played by gentlemen in fine silk shirts half unbuttoned and still be dirty, cool and real.” GARETH LIDDIARD, THE DRONES “This is just some of the best rock n roll ever......it is really fked up.” HENRY ROLLINS “The Scientists music sounded like it came from a place so distant from what was happening musically in America, it made me think there must be a lot of great music from Australia.”
