Recorded in Paris and Reykjavik under the direction of VALGEIR SIGURTHSSON who has worked with BONNY PRINCE BILLY and longtime collaborator with BJORK (since ‘Dancer In The Dark’).
Kaleidescopic vision, multiple textures and sounds are what these girls are best known for and this new album is no exception. Where as their last two albums ‘LA MAISON DE MON REVE’ (R6331CD) and ‘NOAH’S ARK’ (R6316CD) were rooted in DIY and bedroom aesthetics, this new album sees a cleaner, richer, thicker sound invited to the front of the stage. As is their love of hip hop. There are beats, bass lines and rhymes a plenty, as well as all the usual charming and mysterious characteristics you’d expect to find on a CocoRosie record.
The duo are the fore runners of the ‘’Neo-Folk’’ movement and can share places alongside DEVENDRA BANHART, JOANNA NEWSOM, ANTONY and VASHTI BUNYAN, all of whom they have performed and worked with.
CocoRosie are no strangers to our shores, they toured Australia last year to sold out shows in Sydney and Melbourne and performed alongside ANTONY AND THE JOHNSONS as part of THE SYDNEY FESTIVAL.
