The celebrated CAFÉ DEL MAR compilation series was the brainchild of Ibiza’s spiritual father of chill out, JOSE PADILLA, a DJ famed for popularizing and perfecting the emotionally charged sunset sessions at the legendary beach café bar.
After retiring a few years ago, RESIST (who as REACT put out the Café Del Mar series) coaxed him back. With the release of the second installment of his new compilation series, CAFÉ SOLO, Jose revisits his spiritual roots, celebrating Balearic music and beyond.
‘Café Solo 2 – Jose Padilla’ is a 15 track CD reflecting the perennial demand for down-tempo. Once again Jose has selected a plethora of little known but oh-so special ectlectic gems.
Café Solo 2 mixes cutting edge sounds from the likes of PER LINDSTROMM, THIEVERY CORPORATION, CHILLED BY NATURE (BIG CHILL’S PETE LAWRENCE), CHATEAU FLIGHT, rubbing shoulders alongside classics by MERCURY REV, Brazilian samba jazz act AZYMUTH and DANIEL ASH’S (of LOVE & ROCKETS / BAUHAUS) little-known TONES ON TAIL project from the 1980s with the majestic dubbed up “Lions”.
