RESISTE is the new Latin spin-off label of RESIST MUSIC, the UK’s leading independent dance/compilation label and the brainchild of London’s leading Latin music DJ/Promoter Jose Luis. It aims to showcase a plethora of contemporary Latin American artists as well as present a selection of well-crafted, beautifully packaged compilations. Following on from ‘Brasil’ (CARNAVALCD1) & ‘Salsa’ (CARNAVALCD2) comes ‘Cuban Carnaval’.
Cuba has given the world some of its most exciting music for over a century. Cuba Carnaval is a taste of some of the most exhilarating sounds and artists from the last 50 years. It spans Cuba’s own indigenous creations of Son, Salsa, Mambo, Guarachá, Danzón, Mozambique, Conga, Cubop and Timba to its unique spin on genres such as Jazz and Reggaetón, the latest Latin genre to hit the dance floors.
Artists featured include LA LUPE, (the Edith Piaf of the Hispanic Caribbean), IBRAHIM FERRER, (the legendary singer with BUENA VISTA SOCIAL CLUB), Cuba’s biggest dance band LOS VAN VAN right through to the some of Cuba’s most important Reggaetón (aka Cubaton) acts like EDDY K, EL MEDICO DEL RAP. There’s even salsa-hip hop fusion from GEORGE PEGUERO (former producer of UK rapper Sway) delivers a fantastic with spanglish lyrics.
