The Ghost That Carried Us Away
Morr Music
INDIE
FÚSSON. Guitars, piano, his almost bashful and yet so present voice. Nature, mortality and love are the topics of his debut album. These are ever-present themes that are never overbearing - just beautiful in that wonderful MORR MUSIC way!
Hailing from one of our favorite musical heartlands - Reykjavik, Iceland –Sindri has partnered with a violinist whose voice is in the clouds: GUDBJÖRG HLIN GUDMUNDSDÓTTIR (violin, vocals, harmonica); and long time friend and musician ORN (guitar, lapsteel) who together are the inner triangle of SEABEAR. Other players on the album are: EIKI who’s part of the live line-up of SIGUR RÓS, ORVAR who’s part of the sensational MÚM, and GUDNI and DÓRI who play with Morr Music’s other Icelandic band – BENNI HEMM HEMM.
Sindri Már Sigfusson invited them into his small studio and placed them in front of a single microphone to let them think about his musical thoughts. Liking the notion and the feeling of LoFi, the result is reminiscent of the reduced stereo recordings of the 1960’s.
Warm, lush washes of Icelandic pop sung in English reminiscent of some of SUFJAN STEVENS work or even our own DAVID BRIDIE. www.myspace.com/seabear
