Marry Me
Beggars Banquet
INDIE
Totally out-of-the-blue greatness from Tulsa, Oklahoma born multi-instrumentalist Annie Clark – aka St. Vincent.
St. Vincent makes cinematic pop epics - a new American music, informed by jazz, gospel blues, Southern folk music, and classical composition.
Annie has spent her time as a player for hire, playing celeste in Sufjan Stevens’ touring band and guitar in Polyphonic Spree (she’s on the new album), and fans of those artists and their sound will not be disappointed by ‘Marry Me’.
St Vincent has also toured Europe recently as Sufjan’s opening act and recently did shows with Arcade Fire.
Sound wise there are horns and strings, digital keyboards, squiggling post-noise-rock outbreaks, backing harmonies and kiddie choirs, all lilting above the stately grandiosity.
