Etch N Sketch
POP
THE BRUNETTES are an indie band form New Zealand & this is their third album proper & their first for ETCH N’ SKETCH, licensed from SUB POP in USA.
They were hand picked by THE SHINS and taken on tour through the US, UK and Europe and are touring here in August. 23rd Brisbane at the Troubadour, 24th Sydney at the Hopetoun, 25th Melbourne at the Northcote Social Club
Had BELLE AND SEBASTIAN listened to ARTHUR LEE & LOVE rather than SIMON AND GARFUNKEL, they have sounded something like The Brunettes.
Thoroughly modern and delightful, the seven-piece band, play an eclectic, exuberant melding of hooks, harmony and humour - not to mention their mastery of a plethora of musical instruments including marimba, glockenspiel, banjo, cello, trumpet, and alto and tenor saxophones. With their ridiculously catchy hooks, the true magic of the Brunettes radiates from the core coupling of brown-maned cutie-pies’ Jonathan Bree and Heather Mansfield. Both possess formidable pipes, Mansfield’s eyelash-batting coyness & Bree’s debonair delivery will make you swoon & want to touch your naughty bits
