ELECTRO
HENRIK SCHWARZ, remixer, DJ and producer from Berlin became a global player in 2006, ending an amazing year with an already classic, critically highly acclaimed DJ-KICKS album on !K7.
Now we write the year 2007 and our man Henrik clearly still has the Midas Touch, whether it be releasing a string of simply stunning remixes, or becoming famous for his impressive, eclectic live sets.
This live album sees him mix both: bringing the best of his own tracks and remixes together in a live club context: the ultimate fusion of Jazz, Soul and the recent Deep House sound from Berlin.
Recorded in clubs across the globe, then sequenced in Berlin, 'Live' is a testament to Henrik's growing fame as a highly esteemed live act on both sides of the Atlantic. He records his sets for future inspiration, as they often contain spontaneous improvisations and audience reactions that help shape his future musical direction. "I mostly play outside Germany, around the world," Henrik says. "That's where the CD was recorded, different takes from around the world that I wanted to bring together on one album. In some way I have the feeling that if you record something live in Tokyo, you can capture some of that energy on a disc. So I tried to bring some of the energy of Tokyo, but also the energy of Berlin, Chicago, Manchester, Darmstadt, Madrid, Istanbul, Porto - and London, of course. I don't know how it works but somehow it is all melted together."
Truly amazing and pure bliss, it gives a new meaning to deepness altogether. "Live" includes Henrik´s remixes of MARI BOINE, KRAAK & SMAAK, DARK GLOBE feat. BOY GEORGE etc, mixed up with completely altered live versions of his by now classic tracks, as well as tunes by SUN RA, MANDRILL, JAMES BROWN and many more. The perfect follow up to his DJ-Kicks, this is also the ideal lead-up to his 2008 debut artist album.
'Live' is an album for clubbing and home listening, for party animals and music connoisseurs alike. It's deep but instantly accessible, respectful of tradition yet timeless and progressive. 2006 was a great year for Henrik Schwarz. But 2007 is going to be even better.
