‘THE KINGS OF...’ series continues in its aim of bringing you gems from the world of electro. For 9th title in this highly acclaimed series we delve into the vast, exciting world of Electro. Influential DJ, Designer, Producer & Remixer PLAYGROUP (aka TREVOR JACKSON) pairs up w’ Production/Remix duo ALTER EGO to bring you a selection of their top electro tracks across 2CD’s. ™ PLAYGROUP: Trevor Jackson’s career began in the early 90’s creating record covers for STEREO MC’s, JUNGLE BROTHERS & TODD TERRY.
He soon ventured into record production & remixing. Using the UNDERDOG name, he became successful remixing artists such as MASSIVE ATTACK, U2 & UNKLE. In 1996 Trevor formed a new label OUTPUT RECORDINGS, introducing artists such as FOUR TET, BLACK STROBE, THE RAPTURE & LCD SOUNDSYSTEM etc... Jackson’s DJ skills were showcased on the DJ Kicks album (!K7) & his remixes for THE GOSSIP, YELLO, FRANZ FERDINAND, THE RAPTURE & SOFT CELL have been rocking dancefloors worldwide.
CD1 - PLAYGROUP SELECTION: “THE HISTORY” Trevor delves deep into his own extensive collection, digging up tracks that range from early NY classics from the FEARLESS FOUR and DYNAMIX 2 via Detroit (MODEL 500) and Europe (DEEE-LITE & VISAGE). ™ ALTER EGO: ROMAN FLUEGEL & JOERN ELLING WUTTKE came together as a production team in the late 80’s. The first Alter Ego album was released in 1994 on SVEN VATH’s HARTHOUSE label and since then the band have toured the world playing at every influential Techno club & festival, have remixed artists such as THE HUMAN LEAGUE, PRIMAL SCREAM, OCTAVE ONE, BABY FORD & CABARET VOLTAIRE. In 2005 they released the worldwide Dance hit ‘Rocker’
CD2 - ALTER EGO’S SELECTION: “THE PRESENT” The Alter Ego side explores a range of contemporary styles influenced by early Electro and includes releases on the hugely influential labels UNDERGROUND RESISTANCE, M_NUS, PLANET E & BASIC CHANNEL. The tracklist reads like a ‘who’s who’ of modern Electro & Techno with UR, KENNY LARKIN, ROBERT HOOD, CHICKEN LIPS, DETROIT GRAND PUBAHS, RICHIE HAWTIN and MAURIZIO all featured.
