This is the 2nd full-length for Canadian producer SIXTOO on NINJA TUNE, with the instant classic ‘Chewing On Glass’ (ZENCD86 / ZEN86) from 2004 being the first.
Sixtoo has releases on ANTICON, MUSH, ENDEMIK, BULLY and 6 MONTHS and has done production work for SAGE FRANCIS on his ANTICON and EPITAPH releases. Although Sixtoo has mad skills as an MC, this album is solely a reflection of his studio prowess.
For ‘Jackals and Vipers in Envy of Man’, Sixtoo’s signature drum machine fury is combined with dark melodic electronics/synths to create film-noir style paranoia pieced together into one suite with many different movements, sounding as you would expect: aggressive, deep, complex, spatial, and more importantly, tough as nails. Truly a head-nodding/beat-down affair of the highest order.
