Friend Ep

INDIE
New York's gentle giant Grizzly Bear is set to release ‘Friend’, available from November 10th on Warp through Inertia. The new collection of material features 10 tracks of new, reworked & re-recorded songs, covers, and collaborations that encapsulate the Grizzly Bear sound
Coupled with coveted main support slots for TV On The Radio and Feist, headline tours, and festival appearances at Coachella, Sasquatch, Pitchfork, Roskilde, and Primavera, ‘Friend’ is a testament to what Grizzly Bear has become in its 3 year history - a well loved, sonically adventurous and adaptable pop band, with honey-sweet, four part harmonies, and an unforgettable live show. The title is also a testament and a dedication to friendships made, in these three memorable years.
‘Yellow House’, which made both the New York Times and New Yorker's Top 10 albums of 2006, is the source of some of the covers on Friend. “Alligator” and “Shift” come from the band's first release, ‘Horn of Plenty’.
“Knife”, gets the "dance party" treatment by Brazilian party kids CSS and the ambient nu- gaze of Atlas Sound (Bradford Cox of Deerhunter). ‘Plans’ gets chopped up by Grizzly's Chris Taylor and gets an exercise in "Deliverance" banjo plucking from Band of Horses. The live version of fan favorite "Little Brother" gets laid to tape, and captures the energy of the live show almost perfectly.
Grizzly Bear even gets in on the cover racket, tackling the glorious Crystals with an absolutely haunting and new studio version of "He Hit Me". A previously released Japanese bonus track "Granny Diner" is also included. Not to be left unsaid, is a new song - the beautiful melancholia of "Deep Blue Sea", performed by Grizzly's Daniel Rossen.
