Sighs Trapped By Liars

Art rock pioneer MAYO THOMPSON returns with a new album from his RED KRAYOLA project, a name he has used since the time he played in the mid and late ‘60s Austin alongside psychedelic heroes like THIRTEENTH FLOOR ELEVATORS.
‘Sighs Trapped By Liars’ is a collaboration with conceptual artists ART & LANGUAGE, whom Thompson has worked with on and off since 1973. Also working on the album are key Chicago musicians JIM O’ROURKE (SONIC YOUTH, WILCO), JOHN MCENTIRE & NOEL KUPERSMITH (both of TORTOISE).
This is by far the most accessible Red Krayola album for a while, more art-pop than avant garde.
PITCHFORK “The lingua franca here is waifish folk-rock with a hint of psych, Thompson’s version of indie-pop, maybe.”
