Bim Sherman was a one of the great unsung hero’s of 70s roots music. From Westmoreland he moved to Kingston and managed to scrape money together to finance small runs of 45s that he wrote with his friend Bob West. Together they fashioned a series of 45s that were released on Sherman’s own labels Scorpio, Sun Dew and Red Sea. These 45s were often remixed and re-voiced with different vocals when Sherman had the finance to do so.. ‘Tribulation’ is a stunning selection of his most sought after rare and exciting 45s. There have been other Sherman compilations but nothing comes close to this set.

Some of his best records have never been re-released since the mid 70s. ‘Ital West’ a scorching roots tune kicks off this memorable set and there is 2 more cuts of this precious biscuit. ‘Love Forever’ one of his most well know songs is included but we have also included the brilliant DJ cut by Jah Woosh ‘Love in the Ghetto’ Super rare and very funky. ‘Love Forever’ was also covered by Ari Up from the Slits on the first New Age Steppers album.

Other classic tunes such as ‘Weak Heart Men’ which was later re-recorded as ‘My Whole World’ (again also recorded by The New Age Steppers) show Sherman as his talent was developing from the very earliest part of his career. This is deep look at a fantastic artist and it’s a privilege for Pressure Sounds to put out such a classic album.
