Old Growth

‘Old Growth’ is the best Dead Meadow record to date. In ten years of touring and releasing albums the world has changed -- the climate is more conservative and in response the kids are growing their hair long and learning to solo!
Dead Meadow have returned with a fifth studio album that is both delicate and with purpose. Recording in rural Indiana, the band found themselves back in the studio/farmhouse where they recorded their second album ‘Howls From the Hills’. Much in the fashion of Led Zeppelin’s DIY techniques at Headley Grange, Dead Meadow opted for an isolated atmosphere. The result is twelve original songs recorded live in two weeks with just the three band mates that with live energy and mood, remind us of a new breaking levee or a hopping misty mountain.
From their Indiana retreat the band jetted to LA to work with Brian Jonestown Massacre alumni and producer Rob Campanella. Here they captured some of the more interesting overdubs -- tamburas, Mellotrons, and Hammonds came into play.
