Heretic Pride

Mountain Goats return with a brand new album ‘Heretic Pride’. The new album is an up tempo, immediate affair, (in fact in places it rocks!!); following on the heels of 2006’s more melancholic ‘Get Lonely’. The first track taken to radio, ‘Sax Rhomer’ has already gone on high rotation at JJJ.
‘Heretic Pride’ contains 13 new songs from the fertile mind of John Darnielle which were written in a wide variety of places including Fairbanks, Stockholm, Seattle, San Francisco, and Durham, North Carolina. In addition to being geographically all over the map, the songs are about many different things: a pulp spy novel writer, an imaginary cult, break-up sex, a lake monster, Prince Far I and slasher films.
John is supported by many of his frequent collaborators along with some new ones. St.Vincent’s Annie Clark adds some guitar and backing vocals, Rachel Ware Zooi and Sarah Arslanian, members of the Bright Mountain Choir add lovely vocal harmonies.
The album was produced by Scott Solter and John Vanderslice, who also contributed some additional percussion (Solter) and some synth (Vanderslice).
