Here Be Dragons
City & State
INDIE
Influenced by Dylan, Tom Waits and Mazzy Star, alternative folk artist, Krista Polvere headed for New York City in 2007 where she felt she could immerse herself in the city and the place she felt musically at home.
One of the first people Krista's music caught the attention of was none other than Ryan Adams. Krista met him at one of his shows where he suggested they might work together. He had already heard Krista's demos by then and called Krista up a week later to follow up. They have since gone on to write ‘Let's Go which is the lead track on ‘Here Be Dragons'. Krista additionally joined him as support on his National tour of Australia last year.
In her recording career, she seems to be walking the right road, meeting many collaborators including Adam and Grasshopper from Mercury Rev and another chance meeting was with successful US musician, the shy but brilliant Ray La Montagne. This has lead to doing his US dates this June which co-incides with the launch of her record stateside.
The invitations keep coming! Krista just returned from a successful national tour with melancholic folk man Ron Sexsmith and will follow up with a second national tour with Mr Sexsmith later in 2008.
Producing the album is Grammy Award winning producer/engineer/mixer Malcolm Burn. Malcolm has produced albums for Emmylou Harris, Chris Whitley, Patti Smith, and Rachel Yamagata and has engineered and mixed Bob Dylan's "Oh Mercy."
Krista Polvere's dreamy, confessional and moody songs beautifully weave a connection between artist and listener.
