CAJUN DANCE PARTY are a north London quintet, four boys and a girl, only just tipping into their late teens. The band have toured with the likes of KINGS OF LEON and performed scene stealing-slots at last summer’s GLASTONBURY, READING and UNDERAGE Festivals.
The five multi-instrumentalist joined forces for a school Battle Of The Bands, wrote their debut single in their first rehearsal (the soaring, crashing “The Next Untouchable”) and attracted a record label scramble within weeks - resulting in the band committing to XL Recordings.
‘The Colourful Life’ is produced by Bernard Butler (ex-SUEDE).
The nine tracks and 39 minutes of ‘The Colourful Life’ elevate the five-piece out of the exciting but limiting confines of the new band explosion and into the stratosphere. The songs sound like the latest addition to a rich musical lineage that stretches through ARCTIC MONKEYS, MAXIMO PARK, THE LIBERTINES, THE KOOKS and early SUPERGRASS.
The album features their singles “The Race” and “Amylase”, which have both been added to TRIPLE J’s PLAYLIST!!!
