A debut album hasn’t been this anticipated globally in a very long time. ‘Santogold’ is a totally original blend of new wave inspired pop, bass heavy dancehall & dub, electro, hip hop and sounds we can’t even classify yet. After only having a few tracks leaked online and a small amount of live shows the buzz of SANTI WHITE, AKA SANTOGOLD has reached fever pitch!
She has been described as a dream blend of GWEN STAFANI, M.I.A., TEGAN & SARA and KAREN O of THE YEAH YEAH YEAHS.
After fronting punk band STIFFED, A&Ring for Epic and writing songs for other acts Santi started working on her own music with her incredible network of friends, which include the likes of DIPLO, SWITCH, DISCO D, SINDEN, MC SPANK ROCK, CHUCK TREECE (drummer with BAD BRAINS), CLIFFORD “MOONIE” PUSEY (of reggae legends STEEL PULSE), producer JONNIE “MOST” DAVIS (OUTKAST, MARY J. BLIGE, NOTORIOUS BIG) and more. This is on top of collaborations and tours with BJORK, M.I.A., MARK RONSON, LILY ALLEN.
There won’t be an album out this year that will please the underground as much as the mainstream like ‘Santogold’. That, matched with the media frenzy (see examples below!) around her, means 2008 will be Santogold’s year!
