‘Blood, Looms & Blooms' marks the eagerly awaited return of LEILA after 8 years of absence.
Born from home recordings, organic processes, and friends dropping by as much as collaborators, the album veers from deeply atmospheric to light, vocal-led melodies.
LEILA;- Is known & loved for many works & collaborations. Has released on APHEX TWIN's REPHLEX label as well as XL (RADIOHEAD, VAMPIRE WEEKEND etc...) Done recording, singing, touring & engineering for BJORK. Is the sister of KEIRAN HEBDRAN (FOURTET)
Here Leila collaborates with many of her (and our) friends. Her sister ROYA ARAB, her friend LUCA SANTUCCI, KHEMAHL and TAON RICHARDSON the children of her friend DONNA PAUL, plus MARTINA TOPLEY BIRD (TRICKY), TERRY HALL (THE SPECIALS) and ANDY COX all came round to sing & play.
Features the amazing ‘Meddle' which was DJ MAG's Single Of The Month. The vibrant, beat-driven track 'Deflect' with the stunning & sublime vocals from MARTINA TOPLEY-BIRD (TRICKY) as the 2nd single which is MIXMAG's Single Of The Month. A cover of THE BEATLES ‘Norwegian Wood'.
The magical work found here on ‘Blood, Looms & Blooms' will have great appeal to the more mainstream audiences as well as the core indie & electronic fanbase: Such as (BAT FOR LASHES, GOLDFRAPP, LAMB, EVERYTHING BUT THE GIRL etc. etc). As well as the fans that embrace(d) the revival of the iconic sound (and new releases) of PORTISHEAD, TRICKY & MASSIVE ATTACK!
Leila's full band show kicks off this June with the confirmed support of MASSIVE ATTACK at Meltdown in UK in June & the support to BJORK's next UK & EU tour. The album is be graced with amazing artwork by MICHAEL ENGLAND:
