The Devil Has My Double
Unstable Ape
INDIE
Hollywood glamour icon JANE BADLER releases her stunning debut album, featuring the Melbourne act SIR, and duets with band member ‘Jesse Shepherd'. Together their songs recall the works of LEE HAZELWOOD and NANCY SINATRA, SERGE GAINSBOURGE and JANE BIRKIN... it's sensual, it's captivating, and it's on the edge.
Whilst Jane is fondly remembered for her portrayal as ‘Diana' in the cult sci-fi drama ‘V', (as well as celebrated roles in FALCON'S CREST and MISSION IMPOSSIBLE), it is not-so widely known that she has also been singing professionally for over 30 years. Jane's first ever NYC singing performance was at the infamous Playboy Club at age 21.
‘The Devil Has My Double', released on UNSTABLE APE RECORDS, is close to a concept work. Jane's life to date has been quite remarkable and the album not only adds to her jaw-dropping adventures but it also reflects them. Jane sings of her escapades, some desperate and tawdry, some seductive and thrilling.
The album is a compulsive mix of fame, sex and solitude, set to a sweeping soundtrack of cold soul and passionate synthetics. ‘The Devil Has My Double' is a tale of too much, too long - how a charmed life has a price that eventually must be paid. There is a story to tell, and Jane is not shy about telling it.
Jane Badler performs live regularly with SIR. Their collaborations mark her first foray away from the world of late night café noir and torch songs.
Jane recently played songs from the album supporting NEW BUFFALO at a sell out gig in Melbourne. She also delivered a knockout performance earlier at this year at the GOLDEN PLAINS festival.
"The Devil Has My Double' will develop into a full cabaret styled performance piece, which will travel the country and hit the arts festival circuit in coming months, so stay tuned!
