Hot on the heels of two rabidly devoured releases for the pioneering imprint Siltbreeze (former home to GUIDED BY VOICES and SEBADOH), the Matador debut from Columbus Ohio’s TIMES NEW VIKING is the classic we were hoping for and then some. These two guys and a girl make disruptive, distorted super lo-fi thrashy arty rock with melodies buried under screeds of noise.
The trio have been a cause celebre of record collector skum and actual attractive people for the past two years. MP3’s are already garnering intense blog love. The band has toured with YO LA TENGO, MISSION OF BURMA, PSYCHEDELIC HORSESHIT, ENDLESS BOOGIE and others.
On their myspace at some point the band members claimed to be called ‘Hamish Kilgour’, ‘Mark Ibold’ and ‘Brix Smith’.. and they ain’t.. but now you know fans of THE CLEAN, PAVEMENT and THE FALL are gonna love Times New Viking.
