FRIENDLY FIRES are an energetic three-piece from England. The band’s eponymous debut album (released on XL RECORDINGS) is a euphoric, melodious blend of synths and punky guitar riffs that recall the much-loved sounds of !!! CHK CHK CHK), HOT CHIP and KLAXONS.
The group’s first Australian radio track “Jump In The Pool” is produced by Paul Epworth (FUTUREHEADS, BABYSHAMBLES, BLOC PARTY, THE RAPTURE, MUSE) and has already been added at TRIPLE J.
The UK impact and reaction has been immediate: BBC RADIO 1’s most influential DJ Zane Lowe has declared the self titled debut ‘Album Of The Week’, NME gave it a double-page spread and made the track “Paris” ‘Single Of The Week’ and the U.K’s Tastemaker Club DJ’s just can’t get enough. The track ‘On Board’ has been used in a global campaign to promote the Nintendo Wii game console.
In addition to their own run of shows they were also selected as the support act for HOT CHIP’s most recent tour, were part of the NME ‘2008 NEW NOISE TOUR’, played at this year’s popular SUMMERSONIC festival in Japan as well as the READING and LEEDS festival’s in the U.K. MUSIC NETWORK “One of the most exciting bands out of the UK at the moment”
