Artists like NICK CAVE, THE TRIFFIDS and the GO-BETWEENS have given Australian music a certain cache from years of hard slog away from our soil and their many classic albums have allowed younger Australian bands to be taken
seriously at home.
Australian rock musicians who do things purely on their terms are still few and far Between though, and always will be. But even when popular culture is watered down with decades of mainstream “style” over substance, the good oil stands out for Those that want it. TODD SPARROW want it - so they make it themselves.
It could be from the years NICK and ELIOT spent in critically acclaimed should-have-beens like BIG HEAVY STUFF and THE APARTMENTS, the latter of which still enjoys immense success in Europe. Or perhaps the years DAVID, the Sparrow’s guitarist and soundscape maestro, spent in studios helping to make SARAH BLASKO, THE CHURCH, BLUEBOTTLE KISS and many other artists sound so amazing in their own unique ways.
TODD SPARROW is not a man but a 4-piece rock juggernaut from Sydney. Their debut album ‘Here’s To The Start Of Something Beautiful’ featured the Triple j smash “Enough About Me (What Do You Think About Me?)” – a high rotation classic for 6 months.
Executive Producer on the album is TIM POWLES of THE CHURCH and their new album ‘Modern Western’ is jam-packed with melodic pop genius!
