Nominated best Label at Breakspoll 2005, Fat Records currently boasts a thundering release schedule for the year. Fat camp resident Friendly delivers some bone shaking cuts with some hot new 12 inches and the first in a series of Chew the Fat compilation albums. Also on the agenda is the freshest offering from the dread at the controls and fat regular Tayo.
Fat records are about to release the first in a series of compilations that epitomize the Bass fuelled party funk that the Fat Club is known for. Set to drop on April 11th the Friendly compilation serves as a representation of the sound this Fat DJ has been conquering the breaks scene with of late. This comp is a good representation of the sound Im playing at the moment touches of funk, electro, house and of course loads of breaks. All the tracks have soul, and their own individual personality, solid and funky, which is the sound Im really going for says Friendly. Included in this mix are some of Friendlys all time fave tracks: Zoot Womans Grey Day, Rennie Pilgrem and UberZone Cous Cous, Plump DJs Bullet Train as well as Friendlys own dancefloor killers, Bump n Grind and Jack (So Ride Me).
Friendly is due to drop his latest 12, which are some heavyweight remixes of his dance floor totaling Bump and Grind. The first mix, from best DJ of Breakspoll 2005 and Chew the Fat regular, Krafty Kuts mashes the original with ferocious fervour, creating a fresh rave edged party anthem. So get set for an explosion of crunchy beats, twisted analogue synths, further gibberish rap cuts, earth rumbling bass, wailing sirens and a crazy stomping dirty climax.
The Santos mix adopts a more progressive approach, breaking down the original, with punchy regular beats and a menacing techno focus. The track cleverly builds with rap, raw panning effects, haunting stabs, until the main mangled synth riff bosses its way into the middle to wreak havoc.
As well as the Friendly flavoured cuts, Fat Are proud to announce the long awaited artist debut from Chew the fat DJ favourite Tayo alongside Acid Rockers Matt Buggins. The Kiss FM DJ and Bugged Out resident has been working with Matt since they bonded over a mutual love of Dub and Breaks to create Wicked Dub which Skint Boss Damien Darris signed to his influential label.
The new monstrous outing from the twosome, Rockers Delight boasts a masterful creation of bass heavy, Dub influenced Breaks. The A side masterfully blends solid percussive beats, reggae fills and funky bongos. The track is deceptively deep, as youll lose yourself in the incessant Reggae chat, cavernous bleeps, dub effects, raw synths and menacing brooding bass. For those who like their breaks simply tough, flip over to the instrumental.
With ever increasing exposure, you can expect to hear a lot more from the Fat Records label in the near future.
