The label Minor7Flat5 was founded 1999 by Andreas "Brotherman" Christophersen also known as the "Flying Producer". Coming up with deep roots and lots of experience in both reggae and hip hop music, Brotherman's aim was to create a channel to release creativity - not only for his own ideas but as well for the different talents that he got in touch with during recording in his studio (Wort&Sound Studio, Phoenixviertel Hamburg). So the first releases were Brotherman's "Weitergehen" EP and "Vogelfrei", a long player of German rapper and vegan-activist Albino.
Brotherman has already been deeply into Reggae and Dancehall since 1990 when he started playing in his first Reggae band. In 2002 it was finally time for using his good contacts to Jamaican artists as well as other German producers and sound engineers to start working on his own label to serve the community with his definition of Reggae.
Starting with the well received Turbulence album, he already produced albums with many major Jamaican artists. Furthermore he contributed several riddims to the work of other producers and released several 7" tunes with well-known artists based on his riddims.
Minor7Flat5 is based in Gran Canaria Island (Spain) where the major studio work is done, in Jamaica where the recordings are made and in an office close to Hamburg (Germany) honoring Brotherman's roots. We consider ourselves neither as Spanish nor as German label - we are an international label with friends all over the world who contribute their work to deliver the best to our fans: The World is Our Home!
Brotherman and his Label Minor7Flat5 stand for high quality productions: Compared to many other labels, Minor7Flat5 puts a lot of efforts in delivering tunes that combine creativity, good craftsmanship and the will to courageously break new grounds.
We know that our productions are not only dependant on the creative work of the producer itself but also on the cooperation and spirit of our artists. Therefore we follow our principle to treat everybody fair and we are proud to have very personal relationships to a lot of Jamaican artists, not only to those related to our productions. Few producers can claim to be regarded by the Jamaicans as being one of them...
In the last years Minor7Flat5 already achieved a good reputation in the Reggae scene as well as good reviews of the high quality albums - but check the tunes by yourself and form your own opinion...
