First surfacing in a down-and-out X-East London strip joint, Mosquito's Tweeter started life as a monthly showcase / boozing session of eccentric live bands, record spinners and a dancers pole. Crawling out of the seedy confines of 'The Spread Eagle', Mosquito's Tweeter rose from the ashes of the one-off Hung Drawn And Quartered Festival having rocked the cum-soaked cobwebs off 'the Spread', once again breathing life into the once dancers lounge. Started by East London lay-about Luke Wallace, the sporadic programming played host to indie-NME-hype bands such as The Noisettes and Known, hosting the Un-Official Sonar Festival Pre-Party with electronica live acts Kelpe and Point B. Not to mention an array of plastic-pimps, dee-jays, electric odd-balls and stray-dirty-old-men looking for cheap tits n snatch.

Late night fly-postering and stencil / graffiti sessions would take place in and around the grubby streets of Bethnal Green & Hackney, with Police in pursuit, Wallace would often run into Leah Simmons, a fellow Sydney-sider cum Shoreditch dweller whom had caught the London bug some time ago. Banter over pints and beats, bitching over one too many bitter English winters, and relocation to a warmer climate was called for. They both shipped out to Sydney in the summer of 05/06 after a collective of 10 years between them in London and a record label was spawned.

Leah and Luke (insert Star Wars joke here) bring together a wealth of experience from their various roles in the music industry in the UK and Europe. Leah Simmons, for a number of years acted as the pivotal backbone of quite possibly the worlds biggest break-beat label, Finger Lickin' Records. Holding down their hectic release schedule, international touring, label nights and festival appearances - Leah left no stone unturned.
Luke Wallace, a jack of all trades, posed as a journalist for some time working both in-house and freelance for London based magazines Time Out, Seven, Update, FACT, Flavourpill and TNT. He then jumped ship taking up the roll of in-house Press & Marketing Manager for East London music venue Cargo co-promoting gigs, club nights and special events for the likes of The Rapture, Scissor Sisters, Damon Albarn, Dazed & Confused Magazine, I-D Magazine to name but a few. During this time he fine-tuned his A&R ears as Cargo launched the record label Casual along with Island Records man-about-town Ross Allen unearthing talents such as Lady Sovereign, The Loose Cannons & Foreign Beggars.

But what the f**k is a Mosquito's Tweeter?!
'Funkier Than A Mosquito's Tweeter' is the infamous Nina Simone song that ooooozes spiraling rhythm, flow and soul. It's just waiting to explode, but manages to keep in check. Which is the ethos we have with the label and the bands we sign. Just like a mosquito, 1st you'll hear the buzz, then it's going to bite you in the arse and infect you for life.
